Editorial Standards
Purpose of the catalogue
The FEQQE Public Domain Literature Library curates public-domain philosophical and logical texts, providing editorial notes and contextual information to assist readers. The catalogue aims to make these works accessible and understandable without imposing a single interpretive framework.
Scope and selection
The collection currently includes 94 works, primarily in ethics, metaphysics, and logic. Selections are drawn from Project Gutenberg’s extensive library of public-domain texts. Priority is given to works that have historical significance or offer unique perspectives on perennial questions.
Source attribution
All texts are sourced from Project Gutenberg, a trusted repository of public-domain literature. Each record includes the original publisher, translator, and editor information as provided by Project Gutenberg. No modifications are made to the textual content of the works.
Bibliographic records
Each book record contains the title, authors, translators, publisher, keywords, target-reader designation, and a catalogue note. The catalogue note is written by the editor and is based on the work's content and context. It is not a full scholarly analysis but a guide for the general reader.
Category assignment
Works are assigned to one of two categories based on thematic or methodological affinity. The categories are intended as navigation aids, not definitive classifications. Some works could reasonably belong to both categories, and the assignment reflects a judgment call by the editor.
Editorial reading context
Editorial notes and catalogue entries are informed by a reading of the works, but not every book has been read in full. Notes highlight key themes, structures, and points of interest. They are written to assist first-time readers and to draw connections between works.
Edition facts and text measurements
Each record notes the edition used, including translator and publication details. Word counts and other technical measurements are not provided, as the focus is on intellectual content rather than quantitative analysis.
Recommendations and related works
The category guides include three recommended books each, chosen to represent different aspects of the category. Recommendations are based on the works’ content and their ability to illustrate key themes. Related works are suggested in the archive reading paths.
Corrections and reader reports
Readers who notice errors or omissions in the catalogue are encouraged to contact the editor via the contact page. Corrections will be reviewed and implemented as appropriate.
Public-domain limitations
All works in the catalogue are confirmed to be in the public domain based on Project Gutenberg’s review. However, users should verify public-domain status for their jurisdiction, as laws vary. The library does not guarantee copyright clearance for all uses.
Accessibility and readable presentation
The catalogue is presented in a clean, HTML-based format designed for readability. Editorial notes use plain language and avoid jargon. The site is structured to facilitate browsing and discovery without requiring specialized knowledge.
Independence and editorial responsibility
The FEQQE Library is an independent project run by Anne Austen, Manuscript Reviewer. It is not affiliated with any academic institution, publisher, or commercial entity. Editorial decisions are made solely by the editor based on the content and context of the works.

The catalogue does not claim peer review, legal certification, or university affiliation. It does not guarantee that every book has been read in full, nor does it assert that the categories are exhaustive or definitive. The library is a personal curation, not a scholarly edition.

The catalogue is updated periodically as new works are added or as editorial notes are revised. The editor welcomes feedback and suggestions for future additions.
